How I Built a List of 2107 Subscribers in 9 Days Out of Thin Air (With 100% FREE Traffic)

Who else believes that content marketing is dead? Have you read that writing articles to build your brand, your blog, your business and your BANK account is broken in 2013? Or maybe you've been led to believe that creating content that coverts like crazy is something you need to be a professional copywriter to create? The truth is, if you believe any of the above is TRUE... , and are struggling for a way to build your online business, I have good news I hope you will appreciate.

Just in the last month, I did a simple "test" project in a brand new niche to see how quickly we could go from ground zero to profitable progress, in a high volume industry I knew nothing special about, or have no particular unique expertise, other than a curiosity and a passion to explore.

From the first day, with no blog, no list, no business and no investment... to the 10th day, this brand new campaign generated 2107 subscribers, all using a simple strategy anyone can follow.

Here are the core elements we used

1 - a HIGH volume niche. (in this case... diet, one of the very best markets there is, and one that I find myself needing to pay more attention to these days as well, which made in perfect to explore:-)

2 - A landing page for collecting names - and a Thank You page with a free survey, a curated video, and social media share buttons to encourage folks to post the URL to Facebook (which invariably allowed us to "recycle" our traffic in such a way as to get an additional 200 subscribers from social media)

3 - A consistent content marketing campaign of 7 articles a day (A total of 50 articles were written over 8 days)

4 - These articles encouraged readers who wanted to learn more to sign up for our community on the landing page outlined in step 2, and those that did, received a follow up email, and were provided a link to the video and viral links on the Thank You page, also mentioned in step 2.

5 - We also wrote 2 press releases, totally free... and linked them to a tumblr blog we set up for the campaign that featured some of the articles we wrote above, and some additional curated content in the weight loss world as well.

After 10 days, the combination of 50 articles, posted on only a few directories, generated close to 8000 visits to our squeeze page, of which about 1800 people (or 25% or so) signed up for the list.

The Tumblr blog actually sent another 300 or so people (and this grew everyday) via the curated content and a prominent link to our opt in page as well.

The whole thing was done for a budget of about 20 bucks, and actually could have been done for less. While there wasn't a ton of money earned (about 300 dollars in affiliate commissions on a Commission Junction weight loss program by day 10) the truth is, with 2000 + subscribers and regular readers on our blog and newsletter, the profit will surely come.

The best part about this process is that it's SO simple, and anyone can emulate it. You only need content, creativity and consistency to build a COMMUNITY of fans, friends, followers and subscribers... and the simple strategy above is the absolute EASIEST way to launch all of this, on a bootstrap budget to boot!
