An Online Marketing Copywriter Ensures Conversions

By Kathleen Thompson

The process of being seen online is not as easy as many tend to assume. Every hour a new business venture goes viral and many concepts out there are being launched with minimal preparation. This is not to say that an idea will fail or struggle more than expected but it should inspire new entrepreneurs to consider every step of communication. Since electric commerce is a process that relies heavily on visuals, getting the right words in place should be left to an online marketing copywriter that understands how search engines work.

The internet allows many creative and smart people to show off their concept in a fashion that is fast but requires maintenance. Traffic plays a large role in how well an online shop will do and sometimes, word of mouth the friends and family members is not enough. Websites should be found easily on most major search engines and a social media presence is highly recommended.

A lot of people who are new to virtual business may feel that being honest is the best approach. This is true to an extent but being relevant is the main priority. Someone who owns a blog may start their posts with a personal testimony about how their day is going with no keywords to be found. Depending on the other offerings, this approach may not work for all businesses.

This is to say that using a freelancer with limited copywriting experience may not be the best idea. New businesses often try to save money when first launching but this can be the most challenging for both parties. One reason being is there are no previous ads to compare or research.

Although some writers know how to interview clients in regard to their specific needs, experienced copywriters normally use a questionnaire. This allows them to view client goals and offer feedback on areas that may be questionable. For instance, a baker who wants to cater to an exclusive audience will have different needs than one who bakes whimsical edibles suited for children.

A good example of this is the visuals used for social media and for offline promotion. Signs of an amateur are text choices that get lost in the image, are hard to read, or inconsistent with the brand. While copywriters are not graphic designers or desktop publishers, they have basic knowledge of how to create memes or headline copy for images that will not be ignored.

This is why it helps to gather as much data as possible early in the relationship. Copywriters can see things from fresh eyes and use their resources to create properties that do not resort to soliciting business. Things like fun holidays, local or national events, and other miscellaneous facts can be converted into something worth sharing through social media or word of mouth.

Audience retention is not easy for the person who chooses to go at it alone. While possible, it can be difficult to keep the eyes fresh. Ask any writer what makes them successful and most will say the willingness to proofread and edit when needed. Taking a breather can also help a person see whether it is time to plug a product or share a topic of interest that has nothing to do with sales.
