The iPad may have caused a storm when it was first released, but its somewhat hefty price tag was still a barrier to purchasing for many of us. What's more, there's still a relatively large portion of people that simply don't want to carry around a 10" screen and considering one of the main benefits of the iPad is its portability, it was a little odd that it wasn't all that portable.
Along came the Google Nexus 7, which had a considerably lower price point and a more convenient screen size and changed the way that we use tablets - Apple certainly paid attention, at least in terms of the portability of their own device, because they have released the Apple iPad Mini.
Critics' Reception
In terms of screen quality, though, both the Kindle Fire HD and the new Google Nexus 7 have better pixel density. The Apple iPad Mini can only muster up 163ppi whereas its competitors are able to boast much more impressive 216ppi screens.
The new iPad also received criticisms because its casing occasionally reached abnormally high temperatures when playing certain games or while plugged in. These temperatures were not considered a safety concern by Consumer Reports, but they are an issue consumers should be aware of before making the investment.
4. iPad Mirrored Screen Protector: in order to safeguard your iPad from damages due to scratches on the screen, you should buy this accessory. It can be easily fixed on the gadget. Also, it has a smooth ergonomic feel because of its thin film finish. This iPad case protector is good for people who use the electronic gadget on a daily basis.
In terms of price, the Apple iPad Mini is expensive. The basic 16GB option will set you back 269 and because of the necessary use of solid state storage, if you want 64GB of storage then you are looking at as much as 529 for what is basically the GTi version with LTE and all the bells and whistles. The A5 processor is good, though, and will at least match the processors used in other devices like the Google Nexus 7 and the Amazon Kindle Fire HD.
For those that baulk at the price of Apple products, and don't see that the better design and some of the improved features may make it worth the investment, you are unlikely to see the value in the iPad Mini, especially when there is the likes of the Google Nexus 7 waiting for you. However, for those that really wanted an iPad but felt the device was either too big or a little too pricey to warrant buying then the iPad Mini is worth taking for a spin.
